WCID No. 17 Announces Update to Water Impact Fee

On April 17, 2025, Travis County Water Control and Improvement District No. 17’s Board of Directors voted to update the District’s Capital Improvement Plan and the associated Water Impact Fee. The updated fee will be $9,805 per living unit equivalent of water service. This updated fee will go into effect on August 1, 2025.

This fee, paid by those who build new homes or structures, provides the funds for the construction of the District facilities necessary to service these new District’s customers. (Examples of these facilities include water treatment plants, distribution piping, pumping stations and storage tanks.)

WCID No. 17 is a “growth pays for itself” district where we ensure that those who will benefit from the expansion of services, fund that expansion through this Impact Fee. This approach ensures we are able to keep the district-wide tax rate as low as possible, while also ensuring our existing customer base is not subsidizing new development.
