WCID No. 17 lives and gives in the Lake Travis South service area

Many District employees and consultants are involved with giving back through charity and community services.  WCID No. 17 main charity over the years, Lake Travis Crisis Ministry, is always grateful when a carload of food arrives to stock the shelves of the community food pantry.  Gathering toys for Operation Green Santa, starting in 1994 with 7 families, has expanded to many families within the Lake Travis community.

Employees and consultants enjoy helping make home much merrier for many families in the Lake Travis area by generously donating their time, money and resources to aid the Ladies Auxiliary, now LTlov, in their endeavors.  These families are in need of food, toys and a helping hand during any holiday season.

In 2013, WCID No. 17 starting promoting safety in the water system by participating in the area-wide annual Public Safety Day for first responders.  WCID No. 17 also rallied with the Village of The Hills, Hurst Creek MUD, City of Bee Cave, City of Lakeway and Lakeway MUD, in an inter-local agreement to create a local facility to handle household hazardous waste which is known as the Lake Travis Reuse and Recycle Center located on Neidhardt Drive behind the Hudson Bend Fire Station.

Public Safety Day 2022

Public Safety Day was founded in 2009 to shine the spotlight on Central Texas first responders and their missions with a fun, educational event for the Lake Travis South community.  WCID No. 17 enjoys participating in the First Responder’s Annual Public Safety Day to showcase how the WCID No. 17 water utility provides water in case of a fire and a chance to interact with the public on a level that does not involve an emergency situation to learn about what we do and the resources used to keep families and pets safe.

Involvement with Education

Tours bring school age groups to the District to learn about the precious commodity, water.  Staff also provides education through on-site presentations.
